Backroad is a private community for enthusiasts to share useful context and connect respectfully. These guidelines apply to your contributions and interactions, including notes, comments, photos, profiles, messages, and contact using member information obtained through Backroad. Share what you know, distinguish evidence from opinion, and make the discussion more trustworthy than you found it.
Be specific and honest
Share firsthand conversations, ownership experience, vehicle-history context, and clearly identified observations. Do not present guesses or rumors as verified facts.
Correct material mistakes when new information becomes available. Links can support a claim, but members should still evaluate the underlying source.
Disclose affiliations
If you work for, represent, are paid by, or have another material relationship with a dealer, seller, auction house, or vehicle being discussed, disclose it plainly in your note.
Dealer-affiliated members participate as community members. They do not receive special placement or an official-response badge in this version of the product.
Protect people, challenge claims
Disagree with information without attacking the person who shared it. Harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, stalking, targeted abuse, hate, and unlawful discrimination are prohibited.
Do not make lewd, sexually explicit, or degrading personal remarks, send unwanted sexual content, or make unwanted advances. Repeated unwanted contact is prohibited. Stop contacting someone who asks you to stop.
Do not publish someone else’s private contact details, financial information, home address, confidential communications, or other personal information without permission or another lawful basis. Do not impersonate others or invent endorsements.
No unsolicited pitches or member prospecting
Do not send members unsolicited sales pitches, advertisements, promotions, recruiting messages, fundraising requests, or other commercial approaches. Spam, bulk messages, scams, and deceptive promotion are prohibited.
Do not collect member information to build prospect lists, sell contact details, or target members on or off Backroad. Membership and disclosure of a business affiliation do not give permission to market to other members.
You may respond to a specific request from another member or participate in an activity Backroad expressly authorizes in writing or through a designated feature, only within that permission.
Moderation
Report concerns or request review of a moderation decision through an available reporting feature or email hey@thebackroad.io. Reports do not automatically remove content; staff review the context. We may restrict or remove content and limit, suspend, or terminate access for violations, subject to applicable law and the Terms of Use.
Community content is supplied by members and is separate from Backroad analysis and dealer-provided information. Verify claims independently before making a transaction decision.
